THE 'We re-back-in-Chile' FIVE, Oct. 15th (I think)

We've just gotten off a maybe 18 hour bus ride and we re back in Chile. Actually, thats a bit of a lie, basiaclly we did an overnight bus ride, waited an hour at a grungy terminal sitting outside for some fresh air in a carpark where the car RIGHT BY MY EAR kept letting off its burglar alarm, and then caught the most ill-ventilated bus in the entire world to the border. From there we caught a collectivo (shared taxi) with a crazy guy from Holland who had us singing 80's love songs all the way across the border. It may have been the most fun taxi ride of my life! We arrived at our hostel in Arica (right on the border of Chile and Peru) that is run by a very dad like New Zealand man at about 4pm. My head is swimming I'm so tired. Currently, Ross, our New Zealand Dad type figure is washing our delicates of the last few weeks (we can't quite wait til Mums, but boy will she get a few when we get there!!!) and we're looking for somewhere to buy food for dinner...and got drawn in by the blue glow of hundreds of computer screens tucked away in a grm little computer cafe.

Its great to feel like we're on the homeward leg and sooo excited for Easter Island. We figure we'll camp both there and Tahiti, something else we're quite looking forward to. We're on the coast and it smells like ocean and tomorrow we'll catch another overnight bus to Copiapo a ways down the coast towards Santiago. We have about two more overnight bus journeys ahead of us, which though painful, we agree we do in a trance like state and suffer through all in the name of economy. thats three nights accomodation we dont have to pay for! I can't wait to be home and spoilt by Mum and Dad.

Anyway, just a short one as thats about the news to date,
much love,
Camille
