oh the dilemma's...
Shea and I are currently facing all these dilemma's and choices and conundrum's (can you face a conundrum? Be in a conundrum? In the throes of a conundrum?)
Anyway, we're at a crossroads. Our teaching contracts finish at the end of June and we're madly applying for work for September. Basically, if you ever want to be a permanent teacher in the Yukon you need to work in one of the community's (mostly First Nations, very small and isolated). To live in Whitehorse means a cosmopolitan lifestyle with a fabulous availability of sport and recreation and social activities. We've just bought a house in Whitehorse. We've just been offered two permanent jobs in a community (three hours away, 250 people, no-one our age there). I've been offered a temporary one year contract in a job I would love to do here in Whitehorse, Shea just missed out on a temprorary job he would love to do here in Whitehorse (not the same job, though I could see that as a definite conundrum).
We just bought a house PLUS we're about to build another in Haines Junction. We've just spent the weekend clearing the land so it would be ready for our builder in a few weeks...the same builder that stopped past yesterday to tell us he won't be available this summer - he's too busy. In a town of 1000 there are no more available builders for this summer.....
How can we sort out a way to build this summer?
Should we move to a completely new town?
What jobs should we pursue? How do you decide between what is best for you and what is best for your partner?
We have to decide by tomorrow morning....
