VICTORIOUS!!!!

Last weekend Emma, Maggie, Jessica and I rode, as a team, a mammoth 240km. To some that may not seem like much, but considering we hadn't trained (bar riding to work), considering it was over a coastal mountain range and considering we weren't on our own bikes (except Maggie) it was a bloody good achievement! The race is called the Kluane Chilkat International Bike Relay and runs from Haines Junction, Yukon (Canada) to Haines Alaska (USA). It was, to my surprise, brilliant fun (though my "junk" as the girls call it, ached for a good couple of days afterwards). I rode about 60 km (legs 1 and 2) of the course. Emma, in this picture, has just ridden in to the finish to place us 14th!!! Shea and his team-mates came in 15th in their category and wore a pair of pink speedo's over their shorts. It was the 'baton' they they passed at the changeover points, to much hilarity of the spectators, and called themselves the "Budgie Smugglers" in a nod to Shea's love of Australian slang.

I'm not sure if these pants served as a motivator or deterrent  for others on the course.
