Highlights of the summer #2: Visiting parentals

They just love her so much and were so wonderful in helping with cuddling, diapers, laundry, more cuddling, walking during the evening Rat Hours. Mum, admittedly, did have a hard time with some of the crying, like the time she took her for a walk in the Chariot so I could get 'stuff' done. Adelaide was howling when they left, oblivious to Mum and I calmly assuring each other that she would be "out like a light" before they reached the end of the block. Apparently the Little Laide howled past that point, all the way to the grog shop where Mum became paranoid that the licensee would think her a neglectful Grandmama as she loaded the chariot with booze. Laide howled all the way back to me where I heard of their approach before sighting them. Mum had Laide slung under one arm and they were both now in tears; Grandmama hadn't even bought HALF the booze she'd intended on purchasing. I didn't know who to comfort first!

And Grandpapa calmly learned how to shingle a roof while my Mountain Man looked oddly effeminate...

The parentals left about 2 weeks ago and we miss them awfully. It was two months of spoiling Laide and us; all of a sudden it seems the baby cries all the time when in fact it was simply because she was always whisked off for walks down the road to calm down while Mountain Man and I pootled around the house unaware of how we'd feel the absence of that.

The final few included shots of
1) Grandmama, Grandpapa and the wee Laide at a road side stop on the way to Dawson City
2, 3 & 4 pretty self explanatory
5) Hanging out while Mum and Grandmama shot film of Mountain Man Dad and Grandpapa bounce their way down the Yukon River for an afternoon play in the waves. I think the film caught me saying something like, "I don't think that's where they want to go....ooh, careful Shea.....oh shit......" Apparently it was exactly where they wanted to go and I've just become a bit of a nervous nellie. Must be the change that Shea believes marriage had wrought upon me. Adelaide couldn't care less.
6) Adelaide's first 'swim.' With each foot that was slowly relaxed, as it hit the cool, lake water it would quickly retract, just as the other leg was slowly relaxing into the cool, lake water, only to retract, just as the other....
7) Melting under the charm of Uncle Drew.
