under the placenta tree

You heard right folks. It's under there and nourishing both the spirit of tree and daughter. Both have changed since the momentous occasion last year when we ceremoniously planted the placenta. It was to the distaste of some and merriment of others. For me, a nod to the Aboriginal belief of rooting your child's Miwi, her spirit or soul, to Nungeena-tya, Mother Earth. "Everyone on this planet has a unique Miwi print and this holds the coded instructions for our life's journey...they are sacred, and the one who guides us is Nungeena-tya" (from under the quandong tree). By planting the placenta our Little Ladie's Miwi print goes into Nungeena-tya. An Australian belief in her Canadian birth-land. It makes me feel settled, though I was a bit unsettled asking for it in the hospital.

We better not lose that bloody tree...
